Girl Friday Night – Get a fucking lawyer!
With the sad news in the Pacific Northwest of three strip club closures in the state of Washington this post is dedicated to the dancers and other employees who will be affected by it’s outcome.
ESPECIALLY if you live and work in the Seattle area as an exotic dancer — YOU NEED A LAWYER.
Strip clubs across the country have been in the news facing closures by the government so now is the time to protect your well being as a dancer no matter where you live.
Why you need a lawyer?
Most charges are for minor incidents that prosecutors expect dancers to plea on so they can use that as ammo to get certain clubs closed down either for political reasons or by helping competing or surrounding businesses.
He who greases the palm…
Protect yourself and your right to be an exotic dancer!
So here is my tip for dancers because let’s face it, most of us our on our own.
Start an “Attorney Fund”
Some of you may be thinking…”I’m a clean dancer I have nothing to worry about”.
That is the farthest thing from the truth.
Say the wrong thing to an undercover cop and you’ll find yourself in handcuffs and a paper jump suit goin’ downtown!
On that note as a suggestion – either transfer some saved money or start a seperate savings account (ING is good) so if the money is ever needed for an attorney you’ll be covered.
Save 10% if you can and never touch this money as long as you have a dancing career. If you’re feeling extra paranoid you could put in a bit more and use it as potential bail money.
Honestly you should save up to $5,000 but even $500-1000 is better than nothing. If 10% is too much for you at the moment any amount ($5 to $100 here or there) will do. If you can save $25 to $75 a month and treat it as a monthly expense you’ll be covered.
NEVER PAY MONEY UP FRONT TO YOUR CLUB TO HANDLE YOUR LEGAL OR FINANCIAL AFFAIRS.
Pay your own attorney unless the club provides one for you. If your club has a certain attorney that they like to use make sure they have a good track record and they don’t make you plead guilty for the sake of the club not getting in trouble.
Trust me some clubs will throw you under the bus if it means avoiding legal issues.
That’s all I have to say on the matter. THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE but a financial decision that you need to start thinking about.
Have a good Friday night everyone and make that money!
